Free Winter Coats and Oral Health Supplies to Woonsocket Community

Event Celebrates National Children’s Dental Health Month

(Woonsocket – February 10, 2021) – More than 100 Woonsocket children now have winter coats and oral health supplies. Thundermist Health Center and the Health Equity Zone of Woonsocket distributed coats, hats, mittens, and oral health supplies to families on February 6 at the Woonsocket Elks Lodge.

The event celebrated the start of National Children’s Dental Month. Attendees also received masks, hand sanitizer, coloring books, and crayons.

“Thank you to the sponsors and volunteers who made this event a success,” said Eric Prosseda, DMD, chief dental officer. “Regular oral health care is key to a child’s overall health and development. It’s especially important for children to visit the dentist before their first birthday and be evaluated for sealants. Thundermist is accepting new pediatric dental patients.”

Thundermist and the Woonsocket Health Equity Zone co-sponsored the event. Winter wear was provided by Warm Hands, Warm Hearts. Children’s oral health supplies were provided by Rhode Island Department of Health. Thank you to Warm Hands, Warm Hearts supporters NHPRI, Cricket Wireless, Ocean State Credit Union, Petro Home Services, and Coutu Bros Moving & Storage.
