Haaland formalizes historical park boundary


Senators Whitehouse and Reed and Congressman Jim Langevin look on as Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland formalizes the boundary of the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park in July. OSMA helped to make this possible through its donation of property for the park. This is an exciting time for the old mill and Pawtucket.

Former President Donald Trump is suing the House select committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot in an effort to keep records under wraps. The lawsuit filed in a D.C. District Court Monday is an attempt to block the House committee as it works to investigate his actions before and during the Capitol siege. The suit claims the subpoenas for said documents "are unprecedented" and "untethered from any legitimate legislative purpose."        The nation's largest port is looking into all options as supply chain issues are hitting nationwide. Port of Long Beach, California Executive Director Mario Cordero says this is an "all hands on deck" situation. Major ports are dealing with an unprecedented pileup of cargo containers and major retailers say they're scrambling to fill their shelves with certain items.       The Justice Department is officially asking the U.S. Supreme Court to stop Texas' abortion law. The DOJ filed papers on Monday saying justices needed to reinstate a preliminary injunction vacated by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals last week. Acting Solicitor General Brian Fletcher says the court also needs to hold hearings and render judgment during their current term instead of letting the whole Fifth Circuit rule on the law.        Three NBA franchises are now reportedly worth more than five-billion dollars each for the first time ever. According to Forbes, the New York Knicks hold the top spot for the most valuable basketball team in the league at a whopping five-point-eight-billion dollars. Two California teams come in second and third, with the Golden State Warriors valued at five-point-six-billion dollars, and the Los Angeles Lakers worth around five-point-five-billion.        A Maryland woman ordered soup and a sandwich from a local convenience store, but didn't know it would come with a side of 100-thousand dollars. The 64-year-old Abingdon resident won a lottery jackpot while her food was being prepared at a local Wawa store. She told Maryland Lottery officials she decided to use a spare 20-dollar bill as she waited, with a ten-dollar Lucky Numbers ticket hitting for the six-figure jackpot.
