City Council Regular Meeting - Dec 06 2021

The numbers are in for President Biden's first year in office. Out of 13 polls, his average approval rating comes out to just under 49 percent. It was as high as 57-percent until the military troop withdrawal and evacuations in Afghanistan back in August.        The nation's biggest airlines are breathing a slight sigh of relief. They warned a new 5-G cell phone service would cause a massive travel nightmare, possibly grounding planes. That's why Verizon and A-T-and-T agreed to delay today's rollout near some airports.        The White House is taking more action to help people fight off the COVID surge. Some 400-million N-95 masks are being given out for free. They're being pulled from the national stockpile and shipped to pharmacies in the next couple of days, arriving late next week.       Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has an idea to try and force a vote on voting rights legislation: the talking filibuster. A rule change would be able to delay a vote on the bills by talking on the Senate floor. After that, the bill could be passed by a simple majority.       The COVID crisis is delaying another awards show, again. The Grammys were first set to air in less than two weeks, then got pushed out to March. Now, the show will happen April 3rd but not in Los Angeles. It's being moved to Las Vegas for the first time.        Indonesia is moving its capital. The country's parliament approved a bill to relocate the capital from Jakarta, to 800 miles away on the island of Borneo. It'll be called Nusantara [[ noo-sahn-TAR-uh ]] and is expected to be completed by 2045.
