The North Smithfield Police Department has recently been made aware of a scam, in which people are receiving emails notifying them of a traffic citation that has been issued. This email has a link to pay the fine associated with the ticket. These emails appear to come from a traffic court or the town. These are fraudulent emails. The North Smithfield Police Department does not notify people by email when summons have been generated. If you think you may have been a victim of fraud please contact the station.
