Nutritional and Beverage Products Recalled

 

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is advising consumers that the company Lyons Magnus is recalling nutritional and beverage products due to the potential for microbial contamination, including from the organism Cronobacter sakazakii.

 

The products are packed in various formats under many different brand names, including Lyons Ready Care, Lyons Barista Style, Pirq, Glucerna Original, Aloha, Intelligentsia, Kate Farms, Oatly, Premier Protein, MRE, Stumptown, and Imperial. Product details are listed in a table online. To identify the Lot Code and Best By Date refer to the top of the carton for individual cartons or the side of the case for multi-carton cases. The products were distributed nationally, including to Walmarts and BJ Wholesale Clubs in Rhode Island.

 

A preliminary analysis indicated that products did not meet commercial sterility specifications.

 

While infection related to Cronobacter sakazakii is rare, the common symptoms of illness could include fever, vomiting, and urinary tract infection. However, vulnerable and immunocompromised populations may be more susceptible to infection. To date, no illnesses or complaints related to these products have been reported. The recalled products should not be consumed.

 

Anyone who has a recalled product in his or her possession should dispose of it immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. This recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

A Gallup poll shows that only 38-percent of U.S. adults have "a great deal" or "a fair amount" of confidence in Biden to make the right decisions about the economy. Biden's rating on the economy is the lowest since the final year of George W. Bush's second term when only 34-percent had confidence in his handling of the economy.       The National Weather Service is confirming four tornadoes touched down in Michigan Tuesday, leaving at least one person injured. Severe weather continues to threaten a swath of the country across the Ohio Valley and into the mid-South.       Russian authorities say they have another American in custody, days after the arrest of a U.S. soldier charged with theft. William Nycum is being held for at least ten days, charged with petty hooliganism for allegedly being drunk and naked in public in Moscow. This, after Staff Sergeant Gordon Black, a U.S. soldier stationed in South Korea, was arrested for theft in eastern Russia.       The Boy Scouts of America is changing its name to "Scouting America." The organization said it's officially making the change February 2025 as a sign of its commitment to inclusion.        The Rangers are two wins away from the Eastern Conference Finals. This, after New York edged the Hurricanes 4-3 in double overtime from Madison Square Garden to take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven second round series. Out West, the Avalanche are up 1-0 in their Round Two series after taking down the Stars 4-3 in OT from Dallas.
