RIPTA Awarded Certificate of Excellence for Financial Reporting for Twelfth Year in a Row
Providence, Rhode Island - For the twelfth year in a row, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its FY 2023 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. The Certificate of Achievement is “the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” the association stated in its letter to RIPTA.
“Achieving this recognition for twelve consecutive years is a testament to RIPTA’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in financial management,” said Christopher Durand, RIPTA Chief Executive Officer. “This award underscores our ongoing dedication to responsible stewardship of public resources, and we’re honored to receive it once again.”
Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports are judged by an impartial panel to determine that they meet the high standards of the professional organization, including the demonstration of a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” and a commitment to clearly communicating a government or government agency’s financial story.
Founded in 1906, the Government Finance Officers Association represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada. Their mission is to “advance excellence in public finance.”
